Does rhubarb flower? I guess it must do, I can't recall ever having seen it...

... until now. One of my crowns appears to be flowering. Anyone got any idea about what to do with it and what the consequences might be?

Thanks both. In the meantime (TS will approve) I used the search button:

my rhubarb ( planted two years ago) threw out a flower spike - i cut it off as i was sure i'd read somewhere it would take up energy from the plant and it seemed logical. in a prevoius garden i had a huge rhubarb plant in a tiny flower bed - inherited it - and i could not get rid of it - it kept growing back whatever i did - wish i'd kept a bit now i've space for it..anyway it put out a flower spike which i left and it grew about 5ft high with creamy coloured tiny flowers. and still the plant didn't die - i bet if i'd left mine now it would though

After asking on here I cut mine off.

Some people have said that it is an indication that the plant is distressed, but so many people have had their rhubarb flower this year that I think it is more to do with the harsh winter and late spring.

apparently Autumn is the best time to move it. You could move it now, but dont expect any harvest from it this year. When are you moving?
