  • Recomeneded varieties of tomatoes for hanging baskets

    Hi all,

I've grown cherry tomatoes succesfully in hanging baskets this year, after failing to grow decent tomatoes in the the ground.
I was wondering if there were any larger tomatoes that were suitable for growing in hanging baskets, or in one of those upside down tomato growers.

    HI gardendancer

Try Silvery Fir Tree (ex Plants of Distinction). It grows lovely 2" tomatoes and has been really reliable for me. It also produces a nice early crop so useful in that way.
    Cheers

I've also had success with Silvery Fir Tree. I've grown it in a hanging basket in the greenhouse so don't know how it would do out doors. Quite good flavour and quite prolific - some quite big toms too
