  • Ratte potatoes

A quick question ... I've been chitting some Ratte potatoes, never grown them before. The shoots are really small - on most potatoes I have grown they are like a quarter inch wide but these are more like a tenth. Is that normal for Ratte? Or have they been mistreated in some way?

    Thanks!

I had Ratte last year, but I can't remember much about the size of the chits I'm afraid. I didn't bother with them this year because I didn't get a very good yield from them, but that could easily have been down to the weather last year!

Ratte don't have big chits mine never do and yet they still produce. Don't worry!

Thanks. To be honest I only got them because the allotments steward recommended them. I'll let you know how they go!

Ratte are a nice tasting salad potato. If you like Charlotte, there's a good chance you will like these.
