  • Rats Tails

Tried growing rats tail radish last year and just ended up with loads of flowers but no fruits. This year I thought I would have another go and planted a bit earlier. The plants are really untidy and sprawl all over the place and I was wondering if it was all worth it. Yesterday I thought I would just have a good look to see if there was any sign of the rats tails and there is loads of them, largest is about 1inch long. Looks as if I will get a good harvest. Any one got any ideas on how to use them other than in salads.

I chuck them into stir-fries too. My plants got very unruly last year, but they seem to be better behaved this time around!

You could try dropping some into curries when near finished too to add crunch and zing! The taste gets more firey as the size increases, but don't let them get too big or they start getting stringy.

Does anyone know what is the best size to let the radish grow to before picking them please?

I have two plants that have gone mad, there must be a couple of hundred radishes on each plant.
