    Pound shop Onions

    Manchester Arndale pound shops are selling onions.

    Upper shop 200g
    Lower shop 300g

    Got a 300g bag of Red Baron.

    Anyone used them before ?
    Did they work OK ?
    No bolting ?

    I've bought them from our local £shop, and they grew ok with no more bolting than usual.

    Make sure they're not already soft when you buy them, though.

      I got mine from B&M, no problems, no bolting at all, but then it's cold and miserable hereabouts

        Red Barron awful for bolting wherever you buy them

          Heat treatment helps as you now AP, but I doubt you'd get those from the pound shop. Marshalls have bought out an alternative Red Fen which is supposed to be less prone to bolting.
