  • Peppers

Hello everyone. I am really enjoying all your posts and learning such a lot.

I have a question. We are growing peppers for the first time. We have nice healthy looking plants with flowers on some and flowers and peppers on others. How do you know when to pick your peppers?

Hi Kath, you can pick your peppers any time you like. If you just want little green ones, then pick little green ones. If you want big red ones then you will have to wait awhile. Whichever - enjoy your peppers.

From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs.

If you pick them green then you get a bigger crop as the plant doesn't have to use energy to ripen them.

I have found (first time growing)that the plants have been fully laden with peppers before any of them have started to change to red.
