  • Peas - will they cross?

I have some sugar snap peas growing that were kindly donated to me by a fellow grape, they are a self saved 'tall' variety. I'd like to save seed from them myself this year, but my question is this: if I grow my usual (small) variety of sugar snap peas alongside, will they cross and the resulting seeds lose their 'tall' attribute?

From what I've read, they're self fertile, and nearly always pollinate before the flowers open, so I think the risk is pretty small.

Utini is right, they can cross in theory but it's very rare. If you're going to save for home use I'm sure it would be OK.

You don't want to tangle with a cross pea plant - I've had some vegetables which were furious at me, never again. :-)
