  • Parsnips

Hi guys, I have decided to have a go out growing my own veg this year, and though this is a bit strange i have no idea what the Parsnips leaves look like, so im having trouble weeding.

Is it possible that someone could either post a picture or explain what the leaves should look like, this would be very helpful.

(They are Hollow Crown, if that makes a difference).

Ah now, there's another thread on here about the very same issue and there are some pictures.

You have a search and I'll have a search...

I thought they were going to look similar to carrots.

They start off with the 2 straight leaves and then start producing the curly type ones

Nah, but you will need to guard against carrot fly

Carrot fly is a nasty winged pest that lays its eggs near your plants and then the larvae start feeding on the roots. Fleecing is the usual method of prevention.

How (if at all) can you tell by looking at carrot/parsnip leaves if you have carrot fly? My parsnips look perfectly healthy just very slow growing, but it would be good to know what signs to watch out for?
Life may not be the party we hoped for but since we're here we might as well dance
