    Oi Piskie

    You are the only other person I know on here that bought the same issue of Gardening News and sowed these.....Matsuka/Maskuta tomatoes....


    What's the proper spelling - I can't work out which of my many differently spelt labels is right? [She's OCD so bound to be right]

    Mine have been brilliant growers so far....how are yours?

    I've got Maskotka but they sound like a different variety - doing well though with some ickle toms forming in the hanging baskets in the polytunnel

    Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

      That would be Maskotka. Mine are lovely plants, greenhouse ones have lots of fruits forming. Outside ones in flower with a few fruits. Mine were from the free seeds too.

        You may not have been aware of this Z but I had a house move which meant my greenhouse was taken down, my windowsills were stuffed to the gunnels (and then some) with stuff - so I gave away ALL my toms, aubergines etc etc as there was no way I could look after them during the (cold) move.

        Now, if you are passing this way - a plant or two would be very welcomed into my humble Hobbitt Hall - why, it would even be treated with care, love, food, water and cuddles

            Not ALL my plants - all the perennials, some shrubs, trees etc came with me, having been moved into large pots.

            What I couldn't look after was greenhouse stock, so no veg here at Hobbitt Hall at the mo

                See to me; losing all the greenhouse stock, mainly veg - is ALL the plants.

                  Oooh, you poor thing, that's like giving away your children I wish you lived nearer 'cos I have, as always, got a bit carried away and have plants to spare.

                  ETA, probably going to get some stick for that comment!

                    Oh babes, have you been doing some frantic sowing over the allotment to try and make up for loss of greenhouse plants. Do you have your seeds ready for sowing next year, do you need and "aid parcel" as you were unable to save seeds this year, please let me know and i can see what i have spare, sorry i cannot be of use for this year as normally i grow way too much but this year i held myself back. I m still looking forward to come and visit you on your lottie once you have settled in, have got my seat, flask, coolbag and clangers at the ready

                      I'm starting on the lottie at the weekend, darling Snowdrop is going to strim madly for me, I have a couple of raised beds filled with the home-made compost that I carried all the way from Benson - I shall be sowing direct as I am running out of time. It'll only be a small start but that has to be better than no start at all.

                      I've also made a start in the garden, using my link-a-bord raised beds for salad, herbs and the like - I've to buy in compost for that which is a pain - but it'll keep me quiet

                      I am covered for seeds, thank you so much kind lady

                            Sorry Piskie; but these tomatoes have been brilliant this year; not bad for free.

                            Kept us in toms waiting for the pesky heritage ones to grow and turn red.

                              gardening news gave away maskerana tomatoes which my sister gave me some seeds for they have been brilliant cropping for weeks now.the only info i can find is they are bush beefsteak.my sister threw the packet away so if you have any info i would be grateful.i am hopeing to grow them again next year.
