  • No dig ish

Desperate times and all I have stolen some garden from the chickens for veg. They still have plenty don't worry. I raked the straw off it and started breaking it up as was hard on surface but beautiful underneath.

I have a big pile of straw in one corner and a full compost bin. Would it be worth sowing fairly shallow (not sure what's going there yet probably carrots and onions) then putting the straw back over?

Definitely worth sowing, but I wouldn't use the straw as slugs and snails love it

I like to use potatoes to break up the soil, as it's generally nice and light afterwards.
I'm only here cos I got on the wrong bus.

Thanks. I hadn't thought of the snails etc in the straw

Mikey the soils broken up really nicely. Only took around half hour with a fork and Chillington hoe but may well put some spuds in
