  • Is the naga ripe enough?

    Hi all,

I wanted to make sure the naga is ripe enough as I want to keep the seeds from it.

Is it ready to be picked now or should I wait longer?

I'd leave it a bit longer. For seed saving I'd probably let it over ripen. This is my first year attempting to save seeds. So I'd wait for someone who knows what they're on about to answer.

I would wait a while.... and I often let the chilli dry out on the plant before removing to take the seeds out...
I dream of a better tomorrow, where chickens can cross the road and not be questioned about their motives....

Thanks. I'll leave it on there then.

Is the plant isolated? Or did you isolate the flower. It can be disappointing saving chilli seeds without isolating if you want to grow the same variety again. Chillies will cross with chillies and hot/mild peppers.

I'd leave it on the plant for as long as possible.

The plant is next to two others. But they are all Dorset naga so shouldn't be a problem?

I do have a naga morich plant and another Naga plant which my uncle gave me. He said its chocolate Naga (owing to its brown colour I believe) but I don't have a clue what so ever what type of Naga that is.

Btw the latter two are completely separate from the Dorset naga
