  • MY sprouts are ready

    Hi all my sprouts seam to be ready now i thought they wouldnt be ready till christmass is there anything i can do to stop them producing sprouts ? have i blown it for this year? for the future what have i done wrong dont know what type they are got them from my local G C have i time to plant some more?         You put in early sprouts. It appears that you planted them in soft soil, you must at least 'heel' them in to compact the soil, this reduces the chance of blowing.

          When did you plant them Julia ? For next year you could plant them later. For this year I think your stuck with frozen sprouts - there's no way to stop them.

            xmas this year is on the 29th of August,that should give you time to get everything else sorted

                I sow mine in April/May, and plant out in July ... they're generally ready Dec/Jan that way

                  Nobody eats the sprouts on xmas day anyway... just tell them you had them in August and they were delish

                    Can't you just leave them in the ground until y' ready for them? I got some from Real Seeds and I'm sure it said they stand well over winter. They won't like, cos they're blown already, next year I plan to jump up and down on the soil as opposed to firming them in gently with my fist. Hmph.
                    Edit: actually having said that it is quite a while until Chrimbo, I keep forgetting it's still supposed to be summer
