  • My rabbit proofed plot

At the back of the garden is the only bit of soil I do still dig, it is enclosed with old pallets, bits of shed panel and chicken wire to keep the rabbits out, this will be cleared after this crop and become a wildlife pond and water garden next year, getting rid of any areas that require digging slowly.

You can see my pink fir apples tatties and over wintered onion sets, along with some parsnips just sprouting and a lot of last years missed tatties lol.
The othe end has broad beans and brassics under some netting, there's white cabbage, romanesc and sprouting brocc in there, some later winter brassicas will finish off this plot later.

Looks like a lovely cool spot. Bet it'll make a fantastic water garden. Good luck with the plans.

It gets full sun after 11 o'clockish, but a silver birch, not too fat away will give it a bit of dappled shade, so hopefully it will be ok. The plan is to bury an old bath tub in the deeper part to protect the liner from tree roots, then a shallow edge around a foot deep for marginal plants and wildlife. No fish to be going in it as I hope some of the newts I have found in the garden might breed in it.
