  • Moldovan Green tomato - when ready to harvest?

    Hi
Having not grown green toms before can anyone tell me how you know when they are ripe to pick?

Wow, nice one. I guess the colour should change when it is ripen just like other coloured varieties. Maybe to lime green or yellow-ish green.

Well it's sort of yellowish green now with some dark green around the top and about 3" in diameter. Just don't want to cut it off and find it isn't fully ripe.

Sorry I cant help you but I was wondering the same earlier.

I have grown Green Sausage and Grubs Mystery Green and I am unsure how to judge ripeness.

Give them a squeeze? I'm growing black krim and they're kind of reddish/brown and green. I picked them when I thought they were soft enough.

I'm growing green sausage too, I was going to wait until they smelt tomatoey if that made sense and a squeeze to see how much 'give' there is.
I googled it and it looks to have a much lighter green colour than it has at the moment

The green sausage I'm growing goes a slight orange tinge. I squeezed it and picked one or two off. Also, they seem to come off easier if ripe. (that may just be me though!!)

I grow Green Zebra every year. They go a bit yellower and are squeeeezable.

Thanks for all your replies! Had a squeeze this morning (so to speak) and they still felt quite firm so I guess they are not quite ready yet.
