    Marrow giant

    My village has hit the news this week with a marrow short of the world record by 1lb. It was not going to be picked till the giant veg show in a few weeks time but the marrow had started to split and so had to be cut. So near yet so far. There are going to be some beauties at the show, my next door plot holder has some massive one and still several weeks growing yet.

          I've just been looking at a picture of that marrow and I have to say it looks a bit scary. The ones left on my plot are now bigger than my thighs (which are ample!). I had better get pickling before I'm too scared to go near them.

            Will try and get some pictures at the show on the 11th Sept. My mate has 3 on his plot that could give that one a run for its money. Trouble is you just don't know till it is put on the scales.

              The poor guy must have been disappointed when he thought his 112 lb Marrow was only 1lb off the world record. The fact is that the UK record is actually around 145lbs and the world record set by a grower in the Netherlands is 206.5 lbs. Still a huge Marrow and one day I hope to grow something as big. At the moment I'll have to try and beat my PB. marrow of 17 lbs lol!!!
