  • Lowest temperature for seedlings

Can anyone tell me what is the lowest temperature at which you can leave seedlings in an unheated greenhouse?

I have been putting them outside during the daytime and bringing them in at night.

Some, I know have been planting early, typical newbie mistake.

I have peas, mangetout, courgette, cucumber, rats tail radish, sunflowers, marigolds and tomatoes.

I know it is probably too cold to put the toms in there but will the others be ok?

It is just over 70 degrees in there at them minute but I am not sure what it will be later tonight, metcheck say it will be 6 degrees so don't know what it willl be in the greenhouse.

I can see myself going out with a torch tonight to read the temperature in there.

Your peas, mangetout, rats tails, sunflowers and marigolds will all be fine in your greenhouse. I have peas out on the allotment doing fine. Your courgette, cucumber and tomatoes need to be kept warm and need to be at least 12 deg cucumber maybe 15 deg. So be warey of puting them out on cold days.

      Thanks Ian.

It has been quite hot here today and was 78 in the greenhouse this afternoon.

I have had everything out in the sun, I put them all in one of those vegetable racks on wheels so everything managed to catch some sun and is easy to bring back in again.

I shall bring the toms, cucs and courgettes back in when the sun goes in.
