  • Leaf Mould

    Hi there

I am hoping to make my own leaf mould, but not sure how...I have a couple of compost bins ....I seem to recall that leaf mould can be made in bags....is it simply you fill bag/bin with leaves only?
    thanks

leaves only in bin bags, tie them up, punch a few holes in the bags and leave to break down, takes a long time but worth it.....

If you add a large splosh of water from your watering can into the bags before you tie them up, an do as 'Hans mum' says to do, then it gets things moving along from dry leaves.

I get my leaves up with the lawn mower, as its faster than raking them up and they get collected up by the grass box , plus it chops them up a bit, so they break down faster then i just dump the bags in a corner and give them a shake in spring, and another one mid summer to get some air through.

Watch your feet though or you get rotting leaf juice on your shoes in spring ...gros!
