  • Last years Potatoes

Hi folks, I planted early & 2nd earlies last year but subsequently had an accident which immobilised me until fairly recently. I have not been to my allotment since July. My question is do I need to dig up all of last years tatties (and would they be edible) or, can I just leave then in the ground to grow again this year?

I only dug some of my main crop up last weekend as I'd forgotten I'd left them. A few nearer the surface had a bit of frost damage but the rest were great (well over 95% of them) so they should be ok unless you gave a big slug problem (they prefer leaves on my plot). Regardless of this, you do need to dig them up as a) you don't want to grow them in the same place two years in a row and b) they'll not be spaced properly so won't grow as you'd want

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

I'd also try & get them out BF as you won't know if they have been blighted.
