Please could someone tell me what I've done wrong. Prolific growth and numerous flowers on my Butternut squash. Flowers howerver are just falling off: with no fruit forming.

They have been watered regularly and talked to, - Help

JJ are you getting female flowers too? The ones with mini squash right behind the flower?

If so, they may need to be manually pollentated..? Or I think some other grapes have said about watering too..

Thanks for info. I'll have to check for female flowers and then make with the cotton bud.

Hi JayJay, it probably is that you have just had all male flowers so far, my butternut squashes are the same & my pumpkin, but I have just noticed yesterday that the latest couple of flowers on the pumpkin appear to be female so don't give up hope!

I wouldn't worry about a cotton bud JJ. I'm quite brutal and remove the whole males flower and rip the petals down to expose the pollen. Then just wiggle the pollen into the female flower.

Hello Jay Jay, I think you might just be talking about time. I was resigned to thinking I had planted my butternut sprinter too late (May) and would not get any squash, BUT, in the last week the squash have appeared and are growing tremendously.Hopefully in the next few days you will just see yours doing magic.

Thanx for all the info and advice - maybe I'll just hang on a bit then and see what happens.
