      I see your local press is as bad as mine. It's a fungus, not a virus. Different vector.

        Well journalism not that bad really as it can infect the ground for years with no cure available so the substance of the article is correct.

        I'm curious as to how it is spread. In lettuce, all I can think is in/on the seeds - if so would be a good reason for saving your own seeds.

          Seed, soil, and contact contamination.

          Various strains of it are common here and it's extremely easy to spread via shoes, gardening tools, etc.
