I have some planted in a tub in the conservatory, can I put them outside yet? They are about 3 ft tall.

You'll need to harden them off as they started inside. I planted mine in a bath outdoors (not showing yet though).

I think that they're usually just left in the ground to regrow as they're hardy so should be fine when they get used to it.

How big is the tub? JAs can get to 12 foot tall so is it weighty enough not to topple over?

I've also got some in a couple of grow buckets which I'll probably have to prune back to 5 or 6 feet once they get too big so that they don't catch the wind

What ever you, I doubt you will manage to kill them.
You may set them back a few weeks, but kill them, never.

Speak for yourself - I've managed to kill them.

Remember that as they're in a container they're going to dry out easier so you'll have to check on them every day. Tall stems will have alot of leaf area and therefore transpire alot of water daily.

I didn't water mine regularly enough last year and it affected the yield and size of tuber.
              Another happy Nutter...

One time I thought I'd killed mine but they appeared back after a two year gap.

I planted some tubers years ago on my plot and they come back every year without giving them any care or attention at all. Pretty much one of the easiest things to grow, whether you want them or not!

Well the ones in the bath have 5 little shoots poking up and one of the buckets has 1.

So far I haven't killed them off.

I put my tubers into a freshly cleared plot and despite them growing and flowering that first season, slugs had the lot. There was barely one left that wasn't a slug-holed rotty mess.
