  • Idiot....

That's how I felt this morning after going out to the garden to see all four of my potato sacks with totally wilted foliage after the frost last night
I never thought to stick them in the greenhouse despite being well aware that last night was going to be a frosty one
Idiot!!!...all wasted and it had great foliage growth too...
I dream of a better tomorrow, where chickens can cross the road and not be questioned about their motives....

Och, just stick 'em in the greenhouse with the foliage off, the tubers will continue to bulk up. Mine certainly do - I just leave them unprotected until the frost clobbers them, then cut off the haulms and harvest at need. After all, what do you think they do growing them outdoors in the Andes ?
And if that fails and they are all really tiny - call them groundnuts !

I'd pop them in the greenhouse and see what happens. After all, when spuds get zapped in the Spring they will regrow their foliage...but yours may not now be ready in time for Xmas.

Let us know what happens so we can all learn through your 'mistake'

Its an experiment and TMU should be applauded for carrying it out in the interests of potato growers everywhere. Please publish your findings in due course,
              But you''re still an idiot!

Perhaps so Veggie, but Tripmeup's apostrophes do not desert their work posts in order to congregate gratuitiously...

Then I shall sack those apostrophes for wasting time and bring their employment to a Full Stop.

You can't just summarily sentence them like that, Veggie ! It's dashed unfair...you have to at least examine the underline circumstances first.

If it's discoloured or changing colour, the frost has ruptured the cells and it is merely a potential source of disease. Cut it off.
