  • How much longer for rhubarb

I've tried the excellent search facility, but cannot see anything.

I've made crumbles a plenty, schapps, chutney, and tonight I will be mostly making a rhubarb cake, some jam and rhubarb and date chutney.

My question though is this - how much longer can I keep cropping rhubarb, surely it must run out soon?

Pink Champagne is the variety by the way.

If I recall it's about the end of June/mid July ( or earlier if you're getting sick of it!!!)

Remember to leave quite a few leaves to help replensih the plant.

Sounds like you've been very busy HW!

End Jun/beginning of July to let the plant build up strength for next year. That's for Timperley Early. Pink champagne is a bit later so maybe stretch it to midJuly?

      couple more weeks at least

I stop cropping mine mid July.
Don't forget it freezes really well Wayne, just chop it up and shove in a freezer bag, it makes a lovely winter pud!
I make lots of Jam with mine, Rhubarb and vanilla goes down a treat.

I think I made jam last night. Looks like jam. Tastes like jam. It's in jars like jam. When will I know if it's jam?

Edit: Sorry, just found myself singing "Jam tomorrow, jam yesterday, but never ever jam today"

Rhubarb wine? That's what I was hoping for (I hate rhubarb) but both my (Wilko) plants died on planting.

Mine too. I planted 2 last year and both gave up the ghost. My other 2 plants are flourishing in same position.
