What do you reckon? Can I get a tromboncino, sunflower and pumpkin into a builder's bag filled with home made compost, manure and soil?
Could I get another pumpkin in there, too?

I don't see why not. One in each corner(ish) and probably room for something else in the middle. A builders bag can hold a good volume of soil/compost, how about a few trailing lobelia or similar round the edges to fill any gaps and help preserve moisture

Those tonne builders bags make fantastic hot beds/compost makers.
Fill them full of straw and manure layers in Feb, compact it down and put a hoop greenhouse on top.
Great for early production of salads and then when it cools by the beginning of June, the compost is very suitable for growing squashessigpicComment

Sunflowers have a tendency to kill/affect plants around it, I probably would put them in a container of their own.Location: LondonComment

I put 4 courgettes in them and they grow very well! atb Dal. should add they are full of compost in the making covered with black polythene with holes for the plants.Last edited by Derbydal; 28-04-2019, 01:13 PM.Comment

If you train the tromboncino upwards, I'd put two or three of them in, as well as three or four trailing squashes.Comment

Last year I grew 2 trombos 1 pumpkin and a courgette in a builders bag the courgette was very poor and I had to remove one of the trombos, the filling for the bag was made up with wood chip, seaweed, manure, compost, sand and some soil, I will be using the same bag again this year and I have topped it up with bags of seaweed and manure but I will only be growing 2 trombos in itit may be a struggle to reach the top, but once your over the hill your problems start.
