  • how to fumigate your greenhouse

I used to get one of those smoke bombs. Looked like the old Vesuvius fire work.
The hardware shop used to split a box so you only needed to buy one and not 10.
But can't seem to find them any more. Well at a reasonable price !

Anyone know where to get them ?

    Thanks

I had the same problem last year getting any as apparently according to one of the garden centres I enquired in, their use had been banned by the EU so they had been removed from the shelves. He then also pointed out that was why there were so many gaps on the shelves and said that there's not a week goes by that they don't ban the use of some gardening product. That issue though should not be discussed in this thread.

I was in Wilko's at the weekend and noticed my local one had them on the shelf so I don't know if they have been unbanned or if our local Wilko's have just found old stock and they are getting rid of them. I got mine on that internet bidding site as a buy it now item, I would have a look in Wilko's and see if they have them on the shelves first where you are. Hope you find what you are looking for.

Perhaps they will ban garden forks, very dangerous implement you know !
I shall pop into Wilko for a look see, although they don't show them on their site.

          Personally.
As there are predators/pests in any greenhouse, all things being equal, they will come to a natural balance.
By obliterating everything in your g/h that breathes every year, its guaranteed that you will have more pests than predators---as the predators will not turn up until there is sufficient food to eat and breed.
By which time you will be fighting a losing battle.
Save your money for more seeds.
          Just my opinion.
Feed the soil, not the plants.

The garlic candle/burner things can still be used, it was only the Sulphur ones that were banned.

I've used them in the past but it is a shame to kI'll the good guys. Always like a few webs about to catch the pesky flies

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

I have permanent plants in mine so can't use anything and have to be careful cleaning the glass as I don't want to harm the vine fig and new blueberry twigs I have in the Borders in there . But my God the slugs that find new and improved places to live make me despair!
