Has anyone here tryed Nemaslug? Does it work well? Can it work on snails too? I am thinking of buying it.

I used it - and it made a heck of a difference to my slug probs.

You just need to apply it very soon after buying it- and store it in the fridge.
Apply when it's been raining cos the soil needs to be damp for the nematodes to survive- and apply it after the last frost.

It is a bit tricky applying it now- cos you want to water it directly onto the soil anf not the vegetation.

Nope- it didn't get rid of them all- but it made a significant difference on my lottie!

re snails...don't think it works on them- although no idea why not- maye because they spend most of their life above/off the soil

Oh. Does it work on snails too, they seem to be more prevalent in my garden than slugs.

The suppliers are very careful not to claim that it works on snails, but in my experience, it does

          Has anyone here tried Nemaslug?

I haven't personally but a friend did. She said it made the slugs "explode". A revolting thought. We both stick to slug pellets.

They don't explode, they just go underground and die quietly

Its the best investment I have ever made for the allotment. Within 4 weeks, the slug population dwindled to virtually zero, and keeping the numbers down ever since has been relatively easy even in the really wet conditions of last summer.

It works, but you need to keep up the regular doses and the manufacturers do say that it may not be effective on clay soils. I have clay soil. I have used the Bio-Friend slug banish from victoriana nursery and found it to help. I have 30 cabbage on the plot at the moment surrounded with a wall of bran and no sign of any slug damage. The Bio-friend only needs one application so is much more economical than nemaslug.

I put some down on part of my plot 4 weeks ago after having some rocket and lettuce seedlings annihilated by slugs. I put in replacement seedlings that I had started off in the greenhouse in the same area of the allotment last week and there is absolutely no sign of any slug damage to them.
It is certainly something I would recommend based on recent experiences.
There are also a number of stockists selling it on ebay with the cheapest I have found being £8.95 +p&p for a 40 square metre coverage.

I made an active decision not to use slug pellets due to the issue concerning other wild life. Even the supposed organic ones aren't that good.

I have used nemaslug a few times but it is expensive. It works really well and causes the slugs to break down gently and not explode at all. The only thing I've found causes them to explode is stamping on them

we use it on our clay soil and it definitely has made a big difference!!! I have seedlings on my veg patch which would be impossible last year. Direct sowings = death.

cheapest nemaslug at the moment is from unwins 7.95 + p&p (£9.70 total).

That's only the small packets though which are nowhere near enough to do a full sized lottie so it tends to be double that per application (although you don't need to do it every 6 weeks as recommended)

I am tight so won't use nemaslug.

I use [free] sawdust on the lottie and grow in modules so that only bigger veg goes in and this is less tasty in the first place.

I use organic slug pellets under netting and they also just go away and die quietly.

Sorry, I've only got my back garden and no idea about what size a lottie is The small pack is good enough for us.

We've left it 8 weeks now and the slugs are coming back so it's ok for that. Might be 10 weeks by the time we get the next round on.
