  • Green Manure - Coverage / Pack Size!

I'm trying to find a reasonably priced supplier of Mustard seeds for green manure but I'm being thwarted somewhat by some suppliers using a 'Pack contains sufficient for 100 square yards' type description and others using '1kg pack'.

I've searched but my google fu is not strong this morning!

Does anyone know roughly what size area a kilo would cover?

Aha! Seems all I needed was another cuppa and to check ebay!

"Sow at 4gms per square metre"

So 1kg would do 250 square metres or 300 square yards.

Not sure how big my bag was in weight but it cost me £1.50 for a packet and would have been more than enough to cover 2x3.6 metre squared beds.

It had to be sewn by the end of September according to the packet instructions so you may have to be quick.

Is it mustard that's a member of the brassica family, which means you don't plant it where you want to sow brassicas next year? Or does it mean you don't plant it where you already planted them this year? Or both??? Lol, life's so confusing
