    Getting in ground

    I have broccoli, sprouts, carrots, sweet corn, butternut squash, that are starting to take up space I am in Newcastle and the garden is south facing is it still to early to get them in the ground with fleece over?

    The brassicas and carrots should be OK without protection as long as they have been hardened off, I would definitely not put squash or sweet corn out yet

      Now would be a good time to get the hardy veg planted out as the weather is set to warm up this week. As Greenleaves says it is too early for the corn and squash plants - you realistically probably need to leave these another month to 6 weeks before they can safely go outside.

        Gardengeordie have a look at this link you can find you last frost date according to were you live plus it will give you some idea of when to plant out.

          Thank you all very much I have put the brassicas and carrots into my greenhouse and started hardening off so hopefully get them out later this week,

          It's managed to free up some space in the house to transplant my tomatoes

          Thanks very much for the website link to it looks like a very handy site to have around, fairly new to working out when I should be planting out so it's a great guide
