  • Germinating Squash Red Kuri

Last year we had great results with Squash Red Kuri, but this year only one seed from a whole packet has germinated - despite doing pretty much the same as last year.

Has anyone else had the same problem this year with this particular variety or any other squashes?

Yes. I'm having dreadful trouble with getting them to germinate; I'm doing one more round of squash sowing today and that's it!

I'm having trouble with nearly all the squashes - I started with sweet dumpling, zero germination first and second times, so I figured 3rd time lucky. Just to show its not me () I sowed some standard pumpkins for the school fayre and all of them have come up and are going great guns. In despiration I bought some delecta which I will sow if this lot of sweet dumpling doesnt work....

How odd, this year we've had better than normal squash germination - including some from about 8 yrs ago that I just threw in compost rather than the bin...
