  • Garlic Ho!

Wow look at this! This is my very first attempt to grow anything in the ground (did a bit of pot planting last year) and I am so proud! Garlic shoots! These are lautrec wights from the garlic farm.

Nice one. They will be good when you get to cook with them.

Well done Magz. Mine aren't up yet - but they will be.

Some of mine have started to show shoots but I'm not sure they will survive as the ground looks so waterlogged.

Snap, these are my Lautrec, also from the Garlic Farm. I bought the Garlic lovers pack and everything but the Chesnok is doing really well.

I planted 3 cloves from a supermarket garlic bulb as a trial, the shoots are an 1inch-ish tall not sure what my garlic will be like underneath tho.

I'm dead jealous. I planted elephant, chesnok and lautrec two weeks ago (also got from the gralic farm) and so far nothing. Am I being impatient or too demanding - a problem I always seem to have at Christmas time!

I planted mine out on 10/10, which is about 10 weeks ago, so I think there's hope for yours yet So far Lautrec are performing best, Chesnok are worst and the Elephants haven't put in any kind of appearance yet.

That is a great picture Hotstuff! Your garlic is really flying. What have you growing there next to it?

Thanks magz, but they don't look any better than yours. I've mixed the Garlic in with some Nantes Frubund winter hardy carrots. This is my first year growing stuff so I don't really know what I'm doing yet, but I read somewhere that companion planting carrots and Garlic can help keep carrot fly at bay.
