  • Funny broad bean leaves

A friend of mine has these BB's and I've never seen it before, so wondered if you knew what it is.

As you can see, there is a tray of BB's and the one at the bottom of the photo, in the middle has sort of variegated leaves, the light colour is actually very yellow in real life.

The plant next to it, on the left, looks a little stunted and may have something wrong with it. The variegated one looks fine and healthy.

    Any ideas?

It's probably just a mutation in the chlorophyll gene. Variegated plants were derived from such mutations.

The small one looks healthy enough I think,; it's just a bit of a slow grower.

Thanks, I'll let him know, so he can stop worrying.
