Sounds very severe frost in your area, sorry about that. We got frost too this 2 to 3 nights but seems to be not that severe (around -2 C), my snap peas were outside with minimum protections (against wood fence) and seems to be doing ok, hope it stays ok...or I will have to resow them.
Just wait and see CC and you can always resow again (if want to) or use the space for other crop later.

If you hate them, then why are you growing them? Are they in pots or in the ground? If they're in pots, especially small pots, then the roots may have been frozen in which case it's probably bye bye broad beans. They usually manage to survive frosts in the open ground as the roots can go deep and so are protected.

-5.8 in my lotty greenhouse overnight but my bb's survived outside probably as I have a cloche over them

maybe all not lost mine were frozen solid christmas day with a heavy rhime ( the peacocks too ) but still went on to produce a good early crop

I planted 3 lots of beans at 2 week intervals. The first lot were flowering 2/3 weeks ago. They are now black dying. The others are not flowering and look just fine.

Assuming that you sow the correct seed for overwintering [ie Aquadulce or similar] it's not the frost that gets them it's because they get burnt immediately after by the early sun that we have all been loving.

Well, they're still alive this morning.

I think they're just being drama queens

I'm not keen on them myself, but I grow them for my mother who has a bit of a passion for broad beans. There are only 7 plants - I don't like to waste a lot of space on them - but it's still going to be annoying if they don't pull through.

Ah well, that's gardening for you

Although you cant see it in the picture there are 120 of the little babies under cloche.
I am going to plant some more in cells at the weekend.
