  • French Beans

I've kept my beans watered but they're looking a bit wierd, they look like they've got a filmy covering on the leaf at first sight. I'm told by someone that they've been too cold at night. Is this true?

Just to say last year I grew green, purple and yellow and although they were all very tasty fresh and the green and purple froze well, I wouldn't recommend freezing the yellow ones - I found them very limp after cooking from frozen.

I wonder if you had prepared the soil especially for the beans before planting, otherwise there could be a lack of some minerals, for example, magnesium. My dwarf french beans were yellow and didn't grow for a few weeks last year, until I started feeding them tomato feeds. The leaves quickly turned green and plants started growing again!

I will feed my climbing french beans with tomato feeds this year just to make sure.
