  • Flowering brocolli!

Went to the allotment this morning, only to find that my beautiful brocolli has started flowering! I picked the one head that I could get at, but can I still eat it?

Also, will any side shoots grow from the stems left in, or should I pull them out?

Chop off the flowering heads & you may get a smaller crop from the side shoots. As for eating probably not but im not sure - but someone will be along soon to say yes or no!
    Another happy Nutter...

You can eat it but if it's properly flowering I find it tough. If it's just budding then it's fine, bit like PSB. You should get side shoots later too but you won't get a big head.

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

If it tastes OK I'd eat it especially if it was in a stir-fry or omelette.
