  • Fig tree dropping leaves?

    Hi,
I recently bought a fig tree, I have watered it every day as it has been hot. It is in a pot not in the ground. But the leaves have started to go a yellowy brown colour, shrivel up and drop off. Is it dying, or should I re-pot it?
    Thankyou, Sam.

Hello Sam and welcome to the Forum.
I have a huge fig tree and its showing no sign of losing its leaves yet. BUT there's a lot of difference between an old established tree and a newly bought one in a pot.
A photo of yours might help - certainly more information!
Where do you live (please add that to your profile too as it helps us understand your local conditons)
Did you buy the fig in a pot or have you transplanted it?
How big is it? And how big is the pot?
    Has it fruited?
There's nothing like a simple answer to a question I'm afraid

Are you watering the pot enough even in the monsoons we have had a young plant in a pot in the ground may not be getting enough water.

Perhaps because we're creeping into autumn? Where I'am it suddenly went much cooler a couple of days ago but has been rather a wet summer. The Laburnum and Whitebeam trees have already lost a lot of leaves, the others will start soon. I doubt if there'll be an Indian summer but maybe we'll be lucky.
