  • A few Pepper questions

I have three Pepper plants that I grew from seed. They're outside in my 4 tier plastic covered growhouse which is now open all the time. Two are in pots about 4/5" across, and one 6/7". All three look strong, and have all developed peppers, or are devloping peppers.

    1) Should I re pot the smaller potted ones - instinct says no as they are healthy.

    2) How often should I water them? They dry out daily so I'm watering every other day, but I read somewhere that black marks between the stems (which they have) indicates overwatering.

    3) What point to harvest? Just when I think they're big enough, or wait till they turn red?

    4) To take seeds from these, do I just rinse and dry out?

    Thanks in advance,
    Graham

You need to let the fruits mature and dry out completely, then harvest the seeds. There's no shortcuts

also, bear in mind that chillies are promiscuous, and probably won't come true from seed.

If they are drying out too often (they are) they could do with a slightly bigger pot and some shading (if they are in full sun in a greenhouse).

Have you got them all stood in saucers? This helps with watering. I use old hummous tubs

Glad of this advice TS, as mine are in the same position. Luckily they are all in saucers (as a result of previous pointers from you and various others). I'll get out the old voile curtains again to drape the blowaway in the sunshine.
