  • Feeling overwhelmed, what to plant where?

    Hello everyone!

I would really appreciate some help on what to plant where feeling so overwhelmed and I’ve been researching and reading for days and I just need to get planting.

I have two largeish beds available, one that gets lots of sun and the other that gets just about half a day. I also have a small sunny bed and another coming up if I don’t plant any more radishes.

So the vegetables I have sewn are:
Courgettes, chard, kale, cauliflower, parsnips, broccoli, baby corn, red cabbage and spring onions.

Any help would be really very much appreciated

Plant all the brassicas together in the half-sun bed as you may need to net them against pests.
Put the courgettes and corn in the other one. Plant the spring onions wherever there's a space near the edge of a bed.

    Don't overthink it!!

As VC said - also put the smaller less leafy stuff on the South side of the bed so that the taller things, like courgettes or kale don't shade out the things to the North of them.

Don't stress too much - some things get big and tend to dominate - you can either leave them to it or if they are taking light from plants you want to encourage, you can always lop a few leaves off the thug.

We all get overwhelmed sometimes. This place always makes me feel better. Great advice above, and make a note of what works where, because part of what you're doing now (and what we all keep doing, really) is learning your land.

That is probably the most sensible planting plan VC has come up with in a long time - I'd go with that one.

You can have a browse around the forum and see some of her other planting schemes and you'll see what I mean.

Jayell, give Courgetti a little more time and I'll suggest something a bit more "interesting".
