  • Edibles to grow in water!

    Next nutty idea - ready?

I've just bought some Ipomoea aquatica aka Water Convolvulus (what a funny word to spell) aka Water Spinach and a million other names.

It grows in ponds and in boggy ground.
My thoughts are............can I grow it in a trug/bucket of water or my mini-pond.

If so, what other edibles could I grow in a bucket?
Could one have a pond full of edibles - and I don't mean fish!

I've grown watercress in a container of soil under the GH downpipe, to keep it damp - that's a start!

Ideally, I guess, you'd keep topping it up with fresh water?

I seem to remember that a bundle of barley straw and lavender keeps water sweet....can't remember where I know that from though!

Was told by my neighbor that kept Koi Carp that he put a bundle of barley straw in his pond to keep the water from going green with algae, apparently it kills it but doesn't affect the fish.
