What in the name of Monty Don's hairstyle caused this? Unmarked on the outside. Sharpe's express. Been in storage since early August.

Irregular watering? -
It's not a disease. It's a physiological condition called hollow heart. It's caused by erratic water supply, specifically a dry period followed by lots of water, causing the outside of the potato to expand more quickly than the inside.
You can still use it, if you cut out the brown bits.Comment

Oh that's good news. I did wonder as it didn't look diseased.
I don't usually water my spuds as they grow in the ground, and i don't recall the early part of the year being dry.
