  • Cucumber Moulds

Stumbled on a post about Cucumber Moulds. (Growing with plants: CUCUMBER MOLDS FROM JAPAN ) Price rediculous.

But are they available cheaper these days in the UK? Or anyone ever tried 3D Printing one (not exactly a difficult build - but not sure how UV stable a clear 3D print is)

I know, I know, I know! What is the point! But what's the point in Blue/Purple Potatoes and people grow them!

Just to be pedantic different coloured veg offer different nutrients even when the veg is in the same family.

Back to the point. I have a mould for cube shape toms out of a kiddies kit that I have had for years but never used. Although square slices would fit in a sarnie better Maybe I should find it up and actually use it this year.

Fun yes...but how on earth can a bit of plastic cost so much?????

As an alternative you could grow a standard cucumber and use a cookie cutter to get that shape. No skin I know ...no indigestion either!

Slightly pointless in my house as children like their cucumber peeled. Cute though.

How about growing an apple inside a bottle? That would be cheap, assuming you have some empties around?

^^^I could just see a row of them lined up. That is quite cool. I would never eat them though.

If you have have children, don't forget you can carve squashes whilst they grow and the wound scabs over. My dad puts the girls name on so they can't argue whose is which pumpkin.

You can use the cucumber one on courgettes too perhaps?

Wouldn't they break the mould as they grew?..........I've seen leeks break drainpipes.

yer, what a smashing time can be had from releasing it,ref post 7.

anything thats flexable and patterned bent round and held in place with strong tape may give results, even shaped bits off wood glued on to some bendy platic,if you get what i mean, cheap and cheere full to experiment with,
