I only took my first ones a couple of days ago and they are still flowering and still have lots of tiny fruit so I'll leave mind till they die back.

After that I'll see if the root is big enough to overwinter.

Aren't you supposed to eat them when they are small? The size of a large grape. That is what Mr Bee is telling me.

Mine are like stripy rugby balls for very little rugby playing elves.
Its my 2nd year of growing them and I've decided - they're just a novelty and don't earn their keep. Remind me next year that I'm not going to grow them again!

VC, you probably said that last year Did you over winter the tuber of grow from seed again this year?

Last year I didn't get any fruit and the roots never produced tubers - hoping that they do this year as I'd like to give overwintering a go.

I overwintered the roots but they didn't survive.
                This year's 2 plants were part of a ?Sutt0n's offer - I wouldn't have grown them otherwise.
With my luck, these will durvive the winter and I'll be stuck with them, year after year, taking up space and lacking the courage to bin them

I got the Suttons as well as I thought that the plants I had just seeded weren't going to do anything - they caught up and are the ones covered in little mouse melons.

I have three plants in different places and none of them are producing much this year. Even the plants aren't very big compared to last year

I think mine are producung how, I say I think 'cos I've only found bits of fruit (not just the tiny unpollinated ones, but bits of ones that were clearly larger). Apparently something in my greenhouse loves the things...

I figure they don't take up much space though, I'm growing them through the cucumber plant, so it's no big loss.
