  • Costaluto freebie tomato

    Hello,

This year amongst other types, i am growing Costaluto tomatoes which were free with GYO magazine. It says that they should be grown as a cordon type but mine have got to about 2ft high and the growing tip has branched out into 3 or 4 tips.

None of the other cordon types that i have grown have done this before - so what do i do with it now? Any ideas tomato heads?

Mine did this, so I just chose the best looking shoot and cut off the others. Not sure it was the right thing to do but the plant's looking pretty good!

They are a semi-indeterminate type which means they are somewhere in between. ie best grown with 3-4 sideshoots and require staking. However as the fruits are large and heavy sideshoots are probably best lower on the plant.
