  • Cobra beans come good, sort of.

I did 2 wigwams of Cobra climbing french beans. I think the cold got to them. They looked stunted and are still half way up the canes. The ones I planted on the side of the GH have romped away and are currently over the top of the GH.

I was weeding around the base of the wigwams and noticed loads of perfect beans. I assume the plants gave up an decided to make some emergency beans.

I made a framework of canes on the inside end of the greenhouse (which was wasted growing space) one year and had a really good crop of nice clean beans.

My bean wigwam is about half way up now but no sign of beans yet.

The beans in my back garden really aren't doing well this year. I have them in big pots behind my shed, and they usually do well. I think my mistake this year was sowing nasturtiums in the same pot.
The late crop I put in at the allotment, though (sowed beginning of June) are romping away, and I've already had nearly a kilo off them, just from the very first beans which grow right near the bottom.
Both sets are Cobra. I find Cobra are usually very reliable.
