Hey does any one know where i can get Calvo Nero seeds from? Ive been looking every where.

It's spelled cavalo or cavolo nero, which might be part of your problem in finding it. Seeds of Italy is where I got mine:Seeds of Italy - CAVOLO NERO OF TUSCANY -

Cavelo nero is literally black cabbage or black Kale- lots of suppliers sell the seeds. Just do a google search :-)There's vegetable growing in the family, but I must be adopted

As nelliegemini says, you can treat it like lettuce - I pick off individual healthy leaves when they are about 6" long, and the plant just keeps growing upwards to try and escape the predation
And if you can resist eating it all before the end of February, the flowering stem can be eaten too, like sprouting broccoli - yum!Comment

Questions for all you experienced growers......
How long does it take from sowing to harvest?
How many plants to feed just two people?
How much room would they take?
As you may have guessed, I'm not keen on growing stuff that takes ages, or takes too much room!

It does take time - mine was planted out on the plot in Jly and I started the harvest in December. Still picking it now, it's about to flower so will eat those like PSB spears.Growing in the Garden of EnglandComment

I used it as a summer crop - sown in April and was eating young leaves from July until mid-winter. As you can see from this and previous posts, it's a versatile crop and if you sow in Spring and again in Summer you could have it most of the year.Whoever plants a garden believes in the future.
