  • Carrot bucket query

I planted carrots in a bucket of seived garden soil in March. The slugs ate all but two carrots as soon as they appeared. The remaining two were harvested yesterday - jolly good they were too. Can I re-sow carrots in that bucket or would I be better to use fresh soil? If I need to use fresh soil, what would be okay to plant in that bucket please?

I would think you could use the same soil - once more at least. You don't add fertilizer for carrots so the fact that it's a bit depleted shouldn't matter. Unless someone else knows better?

Shouldn't be a problem at all, maybe just top up the soil and mix it up a bit. If you plant them now they will be ready as baby carrots later in the year!

I plant carrots everywhere this time of year!

To stop the pesty wotsits, i stick 2 lines of copper tape around the buckets as it prevents the slugs climbing up.

      Good luck

Cheers folks. Off to plant more seeds then. Will remember to sprinkle with pellets when the first bits of green show through this time
