Advice please, I didn't realise Calabrese needed picking before the flower heads bloom. Have these been lost or are they still edible? Thanks.

    They will taste yukky!
Perhaps try one though before chucking out the lot.
    Bad luck!!

Cut off the flowering heads but leave the plants in the ground, they often produce side shoots like broccoli.

Yep, if any start flowering just chop em off and more edible versions will follow. Although it isn't supposed to be frost hardy my calabrese last year kept producing well into the new year!

Calabrese and broccoli need to be picked when the heads (buds) are tight and green. These are edible. If you leave them the heads become loose and develop yellow flowers (inedible)

Not inediable but certainly not eatable......shoots become hard and stalky the inner part is ok but it's really not worth the hassle.
