    Hi all
The planning department was reading the magazine (Nov 05) and read that it takes 100 days from sowing to harvesting; meaning sowing in September for Christmas eating. The drawback to this is that the packet of seeds we have (Falstaff) says to sow mid March to May. Is it too late for these and should we buy a different strain. Seems a lot of trouble to me; she's the only one who eats the things.

    Hi,

This is my first year for growing brussels but all the info I have read says they have to be started between Feb and May, ready for harvesting Sep onwards. Mine have been growing since May and are now 1m high, but they still won't be ready until Oct+ (variety=Eclipsus).

I think it might be too late....

I also think it is to late. Mine have been going since Apr and I only have small Brussels on 2 of the plants.

Thank you both for the advice. She thought it strange when she read it and asked me to ask someone who may know about these things. For the veggie virgins, this forum and the people in it are great and at times very entertaining.

            Thanks Nick

I forgot all about that; even after downloading and printing a copy off. Must have been a senior moment.

Just re read the article on page 18 and it definitely says seeds should have been sown in early September. Do they know something we don't

I can only assume they've had a senior moment as well

Maybe the variety they are on about you can start & harvest from September & it got transposed in th editing
