I've never seen leeks bolting at this time of year before, but all mine have thrown up flower spikes - must have been that mad cold snap a few weeks ago followed by the mild weather we're seeing now that's confused the bu**ers.

This year has been lousy for leeks. I've grown 3 varieties, Albana, Oarsman and Musselburgh. The first 2 are supposed to be resistant to bolting, but a fair number of all 3 varieties have bolted. I blame the late frost we had at the end of April (the leeks were outside at the time), but I think the autumn has been just as confusing. My clematis Nelly Moser has an open flower. At Christmas
