  • Bit chilly !

Was down to -4.8 in my greenhouse last night. Thankfully I don’t have much veg/fruit in there apart from garlic and strawberries which should be fine. My salad leaves and leeks that are outside in the beds are frozen solid. Not sure the salad will survive this kind of weather.

There's an overnight forecast for -9 in the place I have my fruit tunnel. I have bundled up my one year old Chilean guava plants as best I can, but I think somehow I won't be finding out what they taste like this year either.

Minus 3.8 here last night and the freezing fog/mist hasn't lifted all day.
An elderly looking wood pigeon that's been pottering round the garden for a few weeks now is currently going bonkers at the bird food.

Greenhouse was -4.9c here last night, the price one pays in winter for a being in a sheltered sun trap in summer

Forecast today: over night -1, daytime +4
Actual temperature overnight -7, max daytime -3
Current forecast for THIS AFTERNOON from the met office +1
Minimum forecast for tonight -1. Not quite sure how that is going to work.

Not impressed. If they can't get now right what hope have they for later on?

Last night the temperature inside the garage dropped to -1.5 with the heater on.

Not sure what the greenhouse temperature was last night as I haven't yet replaced the broken thermometer But outside it was showing a reading (from the inside/outside one in my north-facing kitchen) of -7c overnight Warmest (warm? ha!) it got in daylight hours was -1.5c

Got home at 6pm. Clear courtyard. Looked out window at 7pm and there was a covering of snow!

Got about 5 cm of snow here and its barely above freezing - put in some tomato seed to chit yesterday evening, proof if any was needed that I am going mental.

It was snowing yesterday evening and I woke to a world of white. A feeble sun is doing its best to melt the snow and the GH temp is 3C now and rising.
I've no urge to go out and play though.

3 nights of about - 4 overnight. Greenhouse stuff looking ok though. With the sun it is warming up during the day. It was up to 15 yesterday.

My GH is 43 at the moment, with the door open and the automatic windows open. It was below freezing last night. Everything in there is coping with these extremes - tough little things, unlike me.
