  • Bijou Mangetout

I purchased some "Bijou" giant mangetout seeds from Read Seeds to grow next year, but does anyway know how big the plants grow, so I know what sort of support I need to give them?

They grow as tall as any other tall pea and need netting or something to climb on. I grow them every year.

I think mine were around 3-4 ft high, haven't grown them for a while. I know I tend to grow them on short wigwams.

Okay, thanks. I'll need to set up some canes and netting next year, then. The usual short sticks won't cut it.

Its meant to be The pods are huge. I'm going to start some off soon to grow in the GH overwinter. (Not necessarily a recommendation - just something I do because I can!)

It's named such because the pods are giant, so I didn't know if the plants themselves were necessarily that large.
Although it's an old variety, and old varieties tend to be tall ones, so I guess it was a fair bet.
